18 Holes | Par 72 | By Chird Boonyaratanavej | Opened 1993

About the course

This is a very compact layout. However, it’s a testament to the designer’s skill that he has managed to fit a 6,900 yard championship course into the area. The holes are mainly dog-legs, which will put a premium on club selection and placement and – although the course is relatively short – the design is sufficiently tight that all levels of player should find this a testing round.

There’s a profusion of lakes, flowers and trees; the course is so verdant that it’s home to a variety of birds and even the odd goose to steer clear of, as they can be quite aggressive. They should make you stay clear of the water, which is quite an achievement as it’s in play on most holes.

Playing the course: Blue tees

The 1st 332 yards par 4 is a nasty little dog-leg right just to start the day. Water guards the right of the fairway and trees do the honours on the left. Since the hole is short off either blue or white tees, it’s worth a fairway wood to put the ball in play with an accurate drive. The green is covered by bunkers so another good shot is required, but beware of the borrows on the putting surface; they are tricky, so getting the speed right is a must. The 1st 332 yards par 4
The 9th 497 yards par 5 can be a daunting hole from start to finish. The tee box is set back looking over water with a big carry to the fairway to clear some high rocks. The second shot is round a large clump of trees on the left but with a fairly small landing area on the right which also features water. A careful lay up is needed here before a short, but precise, iron to the green. Depending on the pin position, this can be the most difficult putt on the course, so read the first one well and sink it or leave it stone dead. The 9th 497 yards par 5
The 13th 549 yards par 5 is another difficult dog-leg right with trees and water all down the right of the fairway, but it’s an interesting golf hole. A huge tree blocks the direct route, so hit the drive out left with a bit of cut and then plan a lay up to a comfortable distance for a short iron. The challenge is not over yet, as water looms right and the green slopes away from you towards it. It’s a large green so playing for the middle is probably the sensible thing to do, leaving two putts for par. The 13th 549 yards par 5

The well appointed club house has a variety of dining choices focusing on Italian, Japanese and Thai menus all at reasonable prices. The restaurants enjoy magnificent course views and are clean and comfortable.
