About the course

This resort course is set amongst wooded hills and mountain streams, with a proliferation of floral splendour giving the area a peaceful and serene feel. Frangipani, Bougainvillea and even fir trees line the course, making it a memorable walk in the countryside – even if your game deserts you. Given who designed it, the 94 bunkers are no surprise, but overall the course is not too difficult. There are a few water hazards and those that come into play are fair in that they only punish the bad shot rather than stop the good ones.

Playing the course: White tees

The 7th 321 yards par 4 might be short but looks are deceptive; it’s a well designed dog-leg left to test the player’s course management and iron play. There are three bunkers in the drive line and a small pond the left at the corner of the dogleg. Smash a drive over the sand and a mere wedge awaits you, but the risk is high. A mid to long iron short of the sand is probably the wise decision, but it needs to be accurate as the green is small. A couple of solid shots will lead to an easy par of birdie. The 7th 321 yards par 4
The 14th 328 yards par 4 is another short one. It’s a dog-leg right with out of bounds along the right and three bunkers, two left and one right guarding the fairway just as it narrows and starts to turn right. The layout is trying to get you to lay up short of the bunkers on the left and play a sensible iron to the green. A long iron off the tee will leave an 8 or 9 iron to a fairly small green, so treat this hole with respect even though it's index 18 on the card. The 14th 328 yards par 4

The 17th 162 yards par 3 is the signature hole and rightly so. The yardage is no pushover for the average player and is probably more difficult than the index 10 suggests.

A large lake sits in front of the tee box and a small bunker guards an elevated tabletop green, for which a high mid iron is needed in order to stay on it! If you miss, the top of the flag will be all you can see. If you don’t think you can make it, walk up and have a good look at where to pitch to. Par here will be a good score.

The clubhouse has to be one of the most delightful in the country. With a kitchen serving a choice of Thai, Chinese, Japanese and International dishes, as well as a few local specialities, sitting out on the veranda is a pleasant and relaxing experience.

The service here is generally top class and the view from the veranda is also a winner. The resort is just the place for the whole family for recreation and relaxation. A fully equipped fitness centre, and swimming pool cater for the sporty, while there’s a snooker room with full-size tables for those who prefer indoor games.
