Charity Golf Tournaments

At some point during the year's golfing calendar, gatherings of international and local sporting legends, pop idols and stars of the silver screen descend onto the fairways of one or another of the country’s most prestigious golfing facilities, in what is best described as an exhibition of golfing abilities!

However it’s not just a coincidence that the celebs have happened to drop by at the same place at the same time in order to work on their handicaps − although the opportunity does allow − they are there to take part in organised fun-filled events, which present mere mortals with the opportunity to play alongside them!

There is however, a price. But a fee is charged for playing at the courses anyway, except in these cases the profits end up at a designated charity and there's all the fun of the occasion as priceless memories!

The day’s activities generally start before players congregate on the fairways, with a hearty breakfast. It’s then off to the clubhouse for, in some instances, a quick tipple before tee off. Complimentary refreshments are on hand throughout play, as food and drink stops abound, so there’s no need to over indulge before the shotgun!

An extremely memorable round of golf lies ahead and, just to ensure concentration levels are maintained, a number of holes are generously sponsored with special incentives for those who aspire to hit a ‘hole in one’. Doing so could result in walking away with a breathtaking prize.

Players not quite up to the mark during the day get another crack to get their hands on a wealth of fabulous goodies during a charity auction held during the inevitable Gala Dinner back at a top nearby hotel, which will also include a list of celebrity speakers, live entertainment − and yet more welcome drinks.

There are a number of annual events scheduled around the country although dates can slightly differ from year to year; here is a round up of just a few.
